What
is it that actually saves us from our sin?
What is it that actually saves
us from our sin? Is
it the sufferings
of Christ alone?
Consider the following
scriptures:
| 1
Peter 2: Verse 21 Christ also
suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye
should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin,
neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who,
when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he
suffered, he threatened not; but committed
himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who
his own self bare
our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live
unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed.
|
So, Christ's sufferings alone
cannot save us from our sin, it was the baring of our sins.
Consider these
verses, which are from the great details of the "day
of atonement", Leviticus ch.16:
| Verse 20 ¶
And when he hath made an end of reconciling the
holy place,
and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the
altar, he shall bring the live goat: 21 And
Aaron shall lay both his hands
upon the head of the
live goat, and confess over him all
the iniquities of
the children of Israel, and all
their transgressions in all their sins, putting
them upon the head of the goat,
and shall send him
away by the hand of a fit man into the
wilderness:
22
And the goat shall
bear upon him all their iniquities
unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go
the goat in the wilderness.

If Christ had suffered all
that we read of in scripture (which He did),
yet God had not
laid our sins on
Him, then there
would have been no atonement, no hope of any forgiveness!
