My Christian testimony

My parents regularly told us the need to be saved from our sins. I was saved sometime at age 10. But, because I didn't exercise practical faith I was afraid of the water: (something that's not as unusual as I then thought), I wasn't baptised until 1984.

Friends at work, who were believers, are particularly to be thanked for that. They prayed for me: when we first met, I didn't confess Christ at all. But then, when I saw they did, I found myself drawn to them because I saw the Lord, whom I should have been loving, in them.

Just to clarify a detail: the "baptism" I refer to is that done according to the bible , as in Acts chapter 8 v 26 onwards. It involves full immersion.

It was my own brother, Peter, who baptised me. It was performed at the assembly at Bermondsey, in south-east London. One person who witnessed it was an elder who had started the assembly many decades before. He was then in a wheelchair. He said: "This event is unprecedented in the history of the assembly", that brother had baptised brother!
