Lost and Found

Luke 15
76-76.D.

A little piece of silver,
From owner fell away.
It rolled into a corner,
And there it had to stay.
The woman lit a candle,
And sought with earnest care.
Her heart was glad and joyful,
To find it lying there.

A little sheep was feeding,
By mother's side one day.
A little patch looked greener,
And so it strayed away.
The loving shepherd missed it,
Though night was dark and cold.
He sought and toiled and suffered,
To bring it to the fold.

The son with home and loved ones,
With life was ill content.
He took his father's money,
And far away he went.
His money went so quickly,
The swine he had to feed.
He came back in repentance,
And did for mercy plead.

By birth a fallen creature,
You've strayed away in sin,
Despite God's many blessings,
You have no love for Him.
Oh, bow now in repentance,
Forgiveness you will find.
Back now to God O hasten,
He is so wondrous kind.
